After many years of management by the Ourayy Ice Park
Board of Directors, the commercial guiding concession
was awarrded to SJMG in 2001. A few trial years passed
and the system developed into a working mechanism.
This year a 3 year agreement was signed between the
County of Ouray and SJMG outlining the Concessionaire
program through the winter of 2009.
Currently the park is at its maximum capacity for commercial
guiding as seen fit by the OIP Board, the County, and
SJMG. There is a diverse base of services for the public
to choose from. New services wishing to gain a permit
for the park should contactt SJMG about their eligibility
in the future and get on a waiting list for future
seasons. IFMGA Mountain Guides wishing to guide in
the park should contact SJMG about the possibility
of working under their permit as a guest guide.
